| Highworth Job Club runs every Wednesday at 10.00 till 12.00 at the Highworth Library (which provides space, networked computers and copiers free of charge). It is run purely by volunteers and provides help with skills such as:
CV writing
Interview skills
Help with filling in forms
Information on benefits
Training on using a computer
Job searches using the computer
Advice on starting a business
Networking
This is a self help group, who are invited to tell the group about themselves and share their experiences both good and bad.
The amount of people who attend varies from week to week but usually settles at about 8-10. There are lots of good news stories, people who have joined and in sharing their experiences have realised that this is a good time to change career, some people entering work for the first time or returning to work after a break have found jobs quickly after having their CV's reviewed, some who just want to get back to doing what they are good at and help with progressing legal issues for unfair practise when made redundant.
In this time of massive job losses, getting together with other people who are in the same position can revitalise and refocus efforts to re-enter the job market.
Refreshments are provided and again are free as they are supplied by the Co-op. |
